MARCIA ODY MBE

 

 

Marcia is:

  • Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) - received in recognition of her services to Higher Education

Marcia has worked in higher education for 19 years and currently works part time for the University of Manchester as a Teaching and Learning Manager responsible for peer support and student engagement. Marcia has a national and international reputation in the field of peer education, managing the largest known University peer support programme working with approximately 2000 student volunteers who are trained as Peer Mentors and Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) Leaders.

Marcia has been influential in developing the student engagement agenda. Her proactive approach to working with students as co-consultants and creators is highly regarded by her colleagues across the higher education sector, as is her ability to build capacity for this work wherever possible through coaching, training and supporting colleagues.

In addition to working for the University of Manchester, Marcia works as an independent education consultant.

Marcia is the Director of Different Ways of Thinking Ltd and Honu Firewalks which runs a variety of events and workshops including empowerment seminars, team building, cooperative games, leadership and facilitation training, educational events, community camps, retreats and Firewalks.

 

DR WHITTY J. GREEN

 

 

Dr Green is Chief-Director for Teaching and Learning Development in the South African Department of Higher Education and Training, and leads the work of the Department in respect of:

  • Supporting the development of a university-based teacher education system that is able to produce sufficient numbers of high quality teachers for all education sub—sectors, including pre-schooling, schooling and post-schooling.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring policy and programmes to support capacity development of academics and professional staff at universities, including through management and oversight of the Department’s University Capacity Development Programme.
  • Development of a coordinated system for the management of international postgraduate scholarship partnerships.

Dr Green was formerly a school teacher, teacher training college lecturer and university academic.
